Spectres from Vancouver, Canada has always been my all time favourite dark sounding contemporary anarchopunk band. I can say with full confidence if Last Days had been recorded in 80s it’d have become the classic record and we could see the band’s logos on hundreds of leather jackets from all over. Basing on sound of early UK anarchopunk bands like Crisis, The Mob, Zounds putting it through the darker post-punk vibe of Joy Division and Killing Joke, fulfilled with smart political lyrics which at the same time seem to be personal or even something abstract as well, Spectres have created the masterpiece. I can’t believe Last Days was recorded and seven years ago, originally released on best punk labels (Whisper in Darkness and Sabotage) and since then band has been evolving their sound stepping into more darker and atmospheric lands, but this LP was an immediate hook up for me once I gave it a listen for the very first time.
